1. Your last album, "Back on Track", has been well received by the critics, can you tell us about its elaboration, and what he means for you?
Well, I was our most important album so far. After the departure of the former singer a lot of people were thinking that the career of Shakra is over. And this album is the proof, that we are stronger than ever! It was just fun working on it, we really had a great time in the studio. And I think you can hear that on the album.
2. It is also your first album with your new singer with the incredible voice, John Prakesh. Would it be indiscreet to ask why you have separated from Mark Fox? Was it a hard time for the group?
Going separate ways was just the only solution. Fox has a completely different way of thinking, we really had nothing in common in the end. It was just a huge salvation for both sides I guess. Thanks god we met John, that was the best thing ever happend to us!
3. What can you tell us about the new line-up?
As I said before: we’re stronger than ever now! It’s just feels good to play in the band again! Or with other words: we’re back on track!!
4. You are about to play at the Rock Oz'Arènes festival, who has hosted legends like Deep Puprle, Joe Cocker or Nina Hagen, and yourselfs will be playing alongside Motörhead. How do you feel about it? Another concert like any other in your long career?
No! Far away from that! It’s a great honour for us to play in Avenches! We always mentioned this show as a highlight when we were asked about what we are looking for this year. Not because of all the other bands, just because it’s in this wonderful location. And it’s a show in the french part of switzerland, that’s something special anyway.
5. And, speaking about your career, what is your best memory, as an artist?
It’s not possible to name just one.... there were a lot of cool things: Entering the charts on #2 this year, playing at sweden rock, at the W:O:A, supporting Iron Maiden in Uster in 2005 and of course the show in Montreux 2 years ago! And the show in Avenches could be the next big thing!
6. Which groups have influenced you, or inspired you?
When I was younger, back in the 70’s it was AC/DC, later I was inspired by Saxon, Accept or Judas Priest... just to name a few. In the last years we created our own style of music I think, you won’t hear too many influences of any other bands.
7. Can you tell us about Shakra's future? If I'm not mistaken, your tours haven't taken you out of Europe yet, is it a wish for the future?
Sure we would love to play in North or South-America or even in Asia in the future. But I think we are not that well known in these countries yet. So it would be much too expensive to tour there now. But we’ll see what the future brings.
8. Last year, a swiss hard rock icon, Steve Lee, died. How did you live it?
That was a shock. My wife read it online. For a few seconds I couldn’t breathe anymore.... its just unbelievable. To me, Steve was the perfect rock singer. Too bad he had to leave this word much too early. I really hope Gotthard will find a new singer!
9. Hailing from the right side of the Röstigraben, we rarely see you over here. How do you see your Welsch fans? Are there any differences between the French and German scenes? If yes, what are they?
Well, I don’t think that there are some real differences. We played a show in Monthey in April and it was just fantastic. We played a lot of shows in the german part and it was absolutely great. I think as long as you perform well you’ll also get great reactions from the fans. It’s all up to the band!
10. One last message for all your fans?
We’re back on track!! And I hope we’ll play another show in the french part soon! Visit www.shakra.ch for new dates! See you!
